Prof. Dr. Greet Van den Berghe, MD, PhD,
is head of the Clinical Department and of the Laboratory of Intensive Care Medicine at the KU Leuven University Hospitals, Belgium. She is full Professor of Medicine and runs an active research program on the endocrinology of critical illness. She has published more than 560 papers in peer-reviewed journals (2024 H-index 97) as well as many chapters in international textbooks on intensive care and endocrinology. She has been an invited speaker at numerous scientific meetings worldwide and has been awarded many prestigious scientific prizes. She is currently holder of a (third) personal European Research Council “advanced” grant from the EU and of a Methusalem grant from the Flemish Government in Belgium. She is also a member of the German National Academy of Sciences – Leopoldina and fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
