    Erasmus MC

Dr. Jenny A. Visser is an Associate Professor at the Department of Internal Medicine, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where she heads the Metabolism and Reproduction laboratory. She obtained her PhD in 1998 in Rotterdam studying the molecular mechanism of Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH). As a postdoc at UCSF with Holly Ingraham, she identified one of the AMH type I receptors. In 2001, she returned to Erasmus MC, supervised by Axel Themmen, to study the role of AMH in the ovary and where she was instrumental in the development of the world-wide used AMH assay. At present, she focuses on sex differences in obesity, with a specific emphasis on genetic obesity and brown adipose tissue. In addition, she aims to unravel the role of AMH in the metabolic and reproductive disorder PCOS. She serves at leadership positions at the Endocrine Society, including chair of ENDO2023, and the European Society of Endocrinology, where she co-founded and co-chairs European Women in Endocrinology (EUWIN).
