Dr. Tamer Coskun

Dr. Tamer Coskun, Eli Lilly and Company, Carmel, Indiana, US

Tamer Coskun holds an M.D. degree from Cerrahpasa School of Medicine and a Ph.D. degree from Marmara University School of Medicine, in Istanbul Turkey. Prior to joining Lilly in 2003, Tamer was Assistant Professor at IUPUI School of Medicine. 

In his tenure at Lilly, Tamer provided key translational expertise between the preclinical and clinical research space to drive drug discovery projects from initiation through clinical proof-of-concept. Tamer has an extensive expertise in incretin and gut biology which led invention of Tirzepatide and Retatrutide.  He holds a unique position at Lilly, with continued responsibility for discovery efforts and responsibility for early phase clinical research efforts. Tamer has many patents and over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts. Currently, he is a Vice President-Medical in Diabetes, Obesity and Complications Therapeutic Area.
