Welcome to the Dutch Endocrine Meeting 2024

Speaker

  • Dr. Tracy Ann Williams

Dr. Tracy Ann Williams, University Hospital München, Germany

Tracy Williams leads a research team in the Department of Medicine IV at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. Her research focuses on the physiology and pathophysiology of the adrenal cortex, with a particular emphasis on primary aldosteronism.

She earned her PhD in 1992 under the supervision of Anthony Turner at the University of Leeds, UK, where she studied various molecular forms of angiotensin I-converting enzyme in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Following her doctoral studies, she was awarded a Royal Society of Great Britain fellowship for her postdoctoral research at the Collège de France in Paris, where she was mentored by Pierre Corvol. She later received an EMBO long-term fellowship and a Marie Curie research training grant, which allowed her to continue her research at the University of Turin, Italy. It was during this time that she began her investigations into primary aldosteronism, a condition characterized by excessive production of aldosterone, often leading to hypertension. In her current role, she oversees multiple projects that explore the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis in primary aldosteronism, advanced approaches for subtyping the condition, and the physiological aspects of aldosterone production in porcine models.
